What’s the Difference Between Our Fingerprint Editions?

If you’ve followed us for any length of time, you’ve likely heard of “God’s Fingerprint”.

It’s our most popular art print.

It has one verse from every book of the Bible. It starts in Genesis (“In the beginning...”) and ends with a “Hallelujah!” in Revelation. Every book of the Bible is represented in between.

It’s God’s Word in a fingerprint.

Over the years, we’ve introduced several editions of this artwork. There are currently four different versions available.

One of the most common questions we get is: “What is the difference between each version?”

This blog post will set out to answer that question!

One Artwork, Four Editions

God’s Fingerprint comes in four “open” editions.

That means these four artworks are always available for sale (unlike our limited edition releases—which are signed/numbered and only available in a limited quantity).

We’ll only be reviewing open editions in this blog post.

Our open editions of ‘God’s Fingerprint’ include:

    •   18" x 24" Gold Illuminated Fingerprint

    •   18" x 24" Rose Gold Illuminated Fingerprint

Each edition is very unique and different from the others. 

They vary in printing method, paper thickness, paper color and the overall impression they give.

Choosing the right one for you comes down to personal preference.

Which Edition Is the Best?

It really depends on what you’re looking for.

But in case you’re short on time, here are some quick answers.

Which edition is the easiest to read?

The edition that is easiest to read is the 18” x 24” Screenprint edition. The black ink is strong and sharp with an easy readability. We strongly recommend this edition if you (or the person you’re buying for) has any difficulty reading.

Which edition is most affordable?

That would be the 16” x 20” Letterpress edition. Coming in at $40, this is a great place to start.

Which edition is the easiest to frame?

All of our prints come in standard frame sizes, so all should be easy to frame. However, the easiest to frame would be the 16” x 20” Letterpress. It is very easy to find 16x20 frames on Amazon, Hobby Lobby, or even thrift stores. 

Which edition is the highest quality?

Our highest quality prints are our 18” x 24” Gold Illuminated edition and 18” x 24” Rose Gold Illuminated edition. These are printed with a beautiful gold foil, making each verse of Scripture shimmer in the light.

Which edition is best for my home or for a gift?

A very difficult question to answer! It depends on so many factors. We’re confident that one of our editions will meet your needs though.

16" x 20" Letterpress Fingerprint

The Letterpress is our best-selling edition of all time.

It is tried, tested, and true. And, it has over 6000 5-star reviews!

It is a high-quality letterpress print. Printed right here in the United States.

Each verse of Scripture is impressed with black ink on bright white 300gsm fine art paper.

It is our smallest 'God's Fingerprint' artwork at 16 inches by 20 inches.

Even though it is our smallest edition, it makes a big impact. 

It is printed with the legendary letterpress method. This means each verse of Scripture is impressed with a metal plate into thick fine art paper, creating a subtle indentation.

The letterpress printing method first originated in the 1400s (there is a fascinating history with the Bible and letterpress printing).

It feels fitting to carry on this historic printing tradition by offering the 16” x 20” Letterpress. 

Our most affordable and easy-to-frame edition, it makes a great addition to any home.

It was the first edition to be available in both NIV and KJV.

18" x 24" Screenprint Fingerprint

The Screenprint is the original edition of “God’s Fingerprint”.

When Jason created this artwork back in 2011, he worked with an artisan printer to create a small run of 66 prints. Our current Screenprint edition is nearly identical to that original limited edition run.

The original run of 66 screenprints went to family and friends—and Francis Chan!

This edition is the easiest to read—it’s also our personal favorite.

It is screen printed on a beautiful warm white paper by an artisan printer based in Portland, Oregon.

Fun fact: That same artisan printer from the beginning still prints each and every 18” x 24” Screenprint!

Screen printing is a simple printing process that produces beautiful results. This print uses black ink on a beautiful warm Stonehenge paper (250gsm).

The edges of each print are gently torn (deckled) by hand. It also makes each print truly unique and different.

The torn edges and warm white paper give it a very rustic feel. It almost looks like an ancient piece of parchment filled with the words of God.

Although this can be framed in any 18” x 24” frame, we highly recommend getting this print professionally framed with a “float”. This allows the torn edges to be highlighted in the frame, casting a light shadow below. When framed in this way, it’s a real stunning piece.   

The 18" x 24" Screenprint is the best edition for somebody who appreciates excellence, but in quietly confident way.

The Gold Illuminated Fingerprint is our premium Gold Foil edition.

The 18" x 24" Gold Illuminated Fingerprint is our highest quality art print.

Each word of Scripture is impressed with an illuminating gold foil.

Printed on bright white, thick fine art paper with a rich gold foil. This art print has an extra premium feel to it. The words shimmer and shine in the light.

Each letter reflects the light in beautiful golden hues.

Do you offer frames?

No, sorry, we don’t currently offer frames. We recommend getting your fingerprint professionally framed for the best results. Or, if you want a simple, budget-friendly option—Michaels, Hobby Lobby, or Joann are good choices. You can also find good frames at Amazon.

Which fingerprint is the biggest?

Screenprint, Gold Foil, and Rose Gold Foil are the biggest prints at 18” x 24”.

Which fingerprint is the easiest to read?

The Screenprint is the easiest edition to read. It’s the largest choice (18” x 24”) and is printed in black ink—making it easy to read.

Can you create ‘God’s Fingerprint’ in a larger size?

Our largest sized fingerprint is 18” x 24” and is available as a Screenprint, Gold Foil, or Rose Gold Foil. We don’t currently offer any larger sizes.

What translations do you offer?

All four of our ‘God’s Fingerprint’ editions come in both NIV and KJV.

What’s the difference between the Letterpress and the Screenprint?

The two main differences are the sizes and the way they’re printed.

Our Letterpress is easier to frame and more affordable. It’s smaller—16” x 20” and is indented as the ink is pressed onto the paper.

Our Screenprint is easier to read—perfect for those who have difficulty with their eyesight. It’s larger—18” x 24” and is printed with standard printing methods using a huge printer (rather than indented). It also has a rustic look due to the deckled edges.

Where are the ‘God’s Fingerprint’ art prints made?

All four editions of ‘God’s Fingerprint’ are made right here in the USA.

What kind of packaging are the ‘God’s Fingerprint’ editions shipped in?

We use extra thick cardboard tubing for all of our ‘Fingerprint’ artworks. The cardboard is very sturdy, ensuring the art print arrives safely. The cardboard tube protects the art print without causing any creasing. Once you take the artwork out of the tube, it unravels to be easily framed.

Can you create a custom fingerprint artwork if I send a fingerprint photo?

No, sorry we aren’t able to take on any custom print requests at this time.

Can you create a fingerprint artwork with custom verses?

No, sorry we aren’t able to take on any custom verse requests at this time.

Will you release the black fingerprint artwork again?

The “Illuminated Fingerprint - Gold on Black” was a limited edition release which means we will not re-release it in the same size and translation. However, we may release a KJV edition of the black fingerprint later this year.
